About Your Photographer

My Mission: To capture and preserve a moment in time for you to treasure and pass down through generations.

Earthtones Photography Biz Style

My name is Sharon Miller.  I love to capture action as it happens.  I love natural expressions of all kinds.  I'm a low volume photographer and accept a limited amount of new projects per month.  This is beneficial to my wonderful clients, so I can give you personal customer service and take care of you and your images in a way that you deserve.  Quality lifestyle and freestyle photography and excellent customer service are my top most priorities.

Getting Personal

On a more personal note:

* I usually dress appropriately for the possibility of getting ruffled & dirty.
* I will vamp up my dress code appropriately if you need me to shoot your wedding or other more upscale occasion.
* My fearlessness of holding my body at odd angles when needed will serve you well.
* You’ll sometimes see me tooling around in my old beat up Jeep. It’s my favorite ride. Broken in just right for a photographer visiting swamps, rivers, and other muddy places.
* As a regular client you’ll come to know me well and realize I’m pretty free from the status quo in many ways.
* I personally favor black and white photography.
* I have three daughters with only one left in the nest & I’m a grandma.
* My husband is also a photographer and he assists me on most assignments.
* I love to laugh. I find amusement in many, many things. Life is to short not to laugh.
* God directs my path when I listen to Him. I try very hard to listen but I'm thankful that Jesus paid the debt for when I don't listen well.
* I don’t mind symbol smiley faces at all. : ) They give a little warmth to written words that can seem cold and mechanical.
* I have a passionate love of Lake Michigan and the shoreline, where I grew up, and I love summer.   *Freestyle photography is where I shine.   I stick to my own style.   *I work in many different environments and situations. Visit my portfolio and look around on the blog. If you enjoy my style, give me a call or write me. You'll find the link to my website (Portfolio) just below the flash photo header near the top left of the page.

LHS Presents Willy Wonka ~ Lowell, Michigan photographer

Tonight is opening night for the Lowell High School production of Willy Wonka.  At a dress rehearsal I got a very tiny glimpse of the hard work everyone involved has put into this production and the product of their labor really shines.  Everyone from the directors, the orchestra, the stage hands, costume designers,  and the actors truly deserve a huge round of applause, as I’m sure they’ll get.  I highly recommend everyone young and old to go see this production at Lowell High School.

Showtimes:

  • March 5 & 6 at 7:00 PM
  • March 7 at 3:00 PM

Winter Garden ~ West Michigan Photographer

I received this beautiful flower bouquet from a Grand Rapids florist at a business meeting. Once the blooms had withered and died I saved them and watched them dry out for a couple of weeks, then put them outside in the snow.   Now they are recycled as a winter garden so I can enjoy them a while longer.

Time Out ~ Lowell, Michigan Photographer

I haven’t had much time for photography the last 9 or so days. Patrick (my husband) injured his back and I had to take over the majority of his household and other duties as well as take care of him down to the smallest details, like helping him get up and down in a chair. The experience was eye opening for me. You never realize entirely just how much someone does or how valuable they are until something like this happens. The first 3 days were wall to wall labor for me, no rest for the wicked. I felt like I must be very, very wicked on those days.
Once Pat was able to hobble around a little on his own things eased up a bit, but it was still exhausting. Today things are better, though we’ve still not returned to normalcy yet. He can’t lift anything heavier then a half gallon of milk, which means the snow shoveling, wood hauling, fire building, all the manual labor that requires lifting is still up to me. But at least he’s walking and driving a little now. And he can stand long enough to cook himself a little something once in a while.
Now I have lots of catch up work to do, but I thank God for giving us both the strength to get through this, that he is healing, and that it happened during the slow season for my work.
