Grand Haven Beach Fun ~ West Michigan Photographer

I love beach sessions, and this Oplove session was no exception.  What a fun, fun, family.   They’ll be so happy when dad (soon) arrives home from his deployment to stay.   Thank you, U.S. soldiers and military families, for your service to our country.

Yearbook Photos for Senior Portraits ~ Grand Rapids Photographer

I can help you with the specifications you’ll need to turn your senior pictures into your school yearbook.

It’s the end of the school year and calls inquiring about Senior portraits are increasing.   The best advice I can give anyone, no matter which photographer you are going to choose for your Senior portraits, is:  DON”T WAIT!!! BOOK NOW!!! Yes all caps and in bold is like shouting and I meant to do that.  : )   I’ve discovered that too often people will wait until the last minute and think they will get an appointment in time to get those senior pictures in to the school yearbook, only to find that all of the reputable photographers are booked up and/or their appointment will be booked at too late a date to make the yearbook.   Keep this in mind:

I recommend that you have your Senior picture taken no later then July 31st. I’ll be happy to take your senior picture after that date, but to ensure it will be yearbook ready you should have your picture taken by that date.

Here’s the process with many photographers:

  • consultation appointment
  • book photo session and pay session fee/retainer
  • photo session occurs
  • about four days to three weeks (depending on the volume of work the photographer carries and if they are paying for hired help) to process and prepare the proofs for showing and selection.
  • proofing/ordering appointment.  Some photographers do proofing in person, some do it online.  I offer both in person and online proofing, but I feel I can be more helpful doing in person ordering appointments and you normally get your order quicker when you order and pay in person.
  • you order, pay for the order and the order is sent to the lab.  The lab might be an outside lab or the photographer might do their own printing, but either way, the order must be printed.   Depending on what type of product you order, your order may be ready for pick up or delivery in a few days to three weeks from the time of your order.  (longer for press printed books and some other products)

Can you see how the process can take several weeks before you get your finished product?  And it all hinges on if you book in time to get in to your photographer.

Earthtones will only book a certain number of appointments per month and once those are full I will not book any more.  I want to give my best work and don’t feel I could do that if I were over booked.

I can give you standard head shots that fit the specifications of the yearbook and we can also do some more artistic photos.   I’m a location specialist and known for my artistic, atmospheric portrait work but studio head shots are simple with the correct knowledge and equipment and I have both.  I’ll be happy to supply you with a yearbook photo that fits your schools specifications AND some artistic photos that reflect who you are, who you want to be, what you like, or all of those things.  Props and pets, no matter how big or small, are welcome.

Give me a call and book it today.
